Method Labs Tutoring

Program Policies, Eligibility, and Participation Agreement

The following policies outline the expectations, safety requirements, and participation guidelines for all programs offered by Method Labs Tutoring (“Method Labs”), including tutoring sessions, workshops, camps, and enrichment programs. By enrolling a child in a Method Labs program, parents or guardians acknowledge and agree to the terms below.

These policies are designed to ensure a safe, productive, and supportive learning environment for all participants.

Participant Eligibility Requirements

Method Labs strives to create inclusive learning experiences where students of many abilities can explore science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. To maintain a safe and effective environment for all participants, students enrolled in Method Labs programs must be able to participate in the following ways, with or without reasonable accommodation:

A. Engagement in Active Learning Environments
Students should be able to participate in environments that may include hands-on experiments, group collaboration, moderate noise levels, movement around the classroom, and interactive instruction.

B. Ability to Follow Instructions
Students must be able to follow directions from instructors and staff, work independently or in small groups, and participate in activities with limited one-on-one supervision. Students should also be able to adapt to schedule changes or transitions between activities.

C. Communication
Participants must be able to communicate with instructors and peers, including expressing needs, asking for help, or reporting injury or discomfort.

D. Safe and Respectful Behavior
Students must be able to interact with others safely and respectfully. Aggressive behavior, including physical aggression, threats, verbal harassment, or self-harm behaviors, cannot be accommodated in group programs.

E. Independent Personal Care
Participants should be able to manage their own personal care needs during the program day, including restroom use, eating, and basic hygiene.

Staffing and Supervision

Method Labs programs operate with instructional staff rather than school-based support personnel.

Please note that the following services are not typically available on site during Method Labs programs:

  • School nurses

  • Paraprofessionals or special education aides

  • Individual behavioral support staff

Parents should consider these staffing limitations when determining whether a program is appropriate for their child.

Accommodation Requests

Method Labs is committed to working with families whenever possible to support student participation.

If a participant may require accommodations related to medical, physical, behavioral, or learning needs, parents or guardians must contact Method Labs at least 4 weeks before the program start date to discuss the request.

Requests will be reviewed on an individual basis. While we will make reasonable efforts to accommodate participants, Method Labs cannot guarantee that all requests can be fulfilled due to staffing, safety, or program design limitations.

In some cases, families may be responsible for providing or funding additional support required for participation.

Medical Needs and Medication

Severe Allergies

Parents of students with severe allergies requiring emergency medication (such as an epinephrine injector) must notify Method Labs during registration. Staff may request instructions from the parent or guardian prior to the start of the program.

Medication During Programs

Method Labs staff are generally not permitted to administer medication.

Students who need medication during program hours must:

  • Bring medication in its original labeled container

  • Be able to self-administer medication if needed

  • Have written authorization from a parent or guardian

If a child cannot self-administer medication, a parent or authorized adult may come to the site to administer the medication.

Student Code of Conduct

Method Labs expects all students, families, and visitors to contribute to a positive learning environment.

Participants are expected to:

  1. Follow staff instructions: Students should cooperate with instructors and avoid behaviors that disrupt instruction or interfere with other students’ learning. Use

  2. Use technology appropriately: Personal devices should not be used during programs unless permitted by staff.

  3. Treat others respectfully: Bullying, harassment, threats, or disrespectful behavior will not be tolerated. This includes:

  • Teasing or intimidation

  • Use of inappropriate language

  • Physical aggression (hitting, kicking, pushing, etc.)

  • Damage to property

  • Stealing or misuse of materials

Behavior and Incident Response

If behavioral or safety concerns arise, Method Labs staff will take steps to address the situation promptly.

Possible responses may include:

  • Verbal reminders or redirection

  • Temporary removal from an activity

  • Parent notification

  • Written incident documentation

  • Early dismissal from the program when necessary

Parents will be informed if significant incidents occur.

For safety reasons, staff may physically intervene only when necessary to prevent immediate harm to a student or others.

If a student repeatedly violates the Code of Conduct or is unable to meet the participation requirements, Method Labs reserves the right to dismiss the student from the program. In such cases, program fees may not be refunded.

Parents and guardians should not approach other children or families regarding incidents; staff will handle communication between parties.

Photography and Media Release

During Method Labs programs, photographs or video recordings may be taken for educational, promotional, or documentation purposes.

By enrolling in a program, parents or guardians may be asked to grant permission for Method Labs to use images or recordings of participants for purposes such as:

  • Website content

  • Social media posts

  • Marketing materials

  • Educational publications

Participants will not be identified by full name without explicit additional permission.

Families who prefer that their child not appear in promotional media may opt out during registration. However, students may still appear incidentally in group images where they are not individually identifiable.

Refund and Cancellation Policy

Program registrations require advance planning for materials, staffing, and facility use.

Unless otherwise specified:

  • A non-refundable deposit may be required at the time of registration.

  • Summer programs are non-refundable

  • Monthly tutoring programs may be cancelled with 30 day notice.

  • Cancellations after this deadline may not be eligible for refunds.

If space allows, families may request to transfer their enrollment to another available session.

Emergency Medical Authorization

By enrolling a participant in a Method Labs program, the parent or guardian authorizes Method Labs staff to seek emergency medical treatment for the participant if necessary.

In the event of a medical emergency, staff will attempt to contact the parent or guardian as quickly as possible. If immediate care is required and contact cannot be made, permission is granted for medical professionals to provide appropriate treatment.

This authorization applies only to emergency circumstances during the participant’s registered program session.

Safety Notice

Some program activities involve tools, small components, electronic parts, magnets, or batteries used in STEM projects.

Parents should supervise children and pets around any materials brought home from programs and ensure that small parts are kept away from young children.

Assumption of Risk and Liability Waiver

Participation in hands-on educational programs may involve certain inherent risks, including minor injuries associated with classroom activities or experimentation.

By enrolling their child in a Method Labs program, parents or guardians acknowledge these risks and agree to release Method Labs Tutoring, its employees, instructors, contractors, and facility partners from liability for injuries or damages arising from participation, except where prohibited by law.

If any portion of this agreement is determined to be unenforceable under applicable law, the remaining provisions will remain in effect.

Agreement and Confirmation

By registering a participant for a Method Labs Tutoring program, the parent or guardian confirms that:

  • They have read and agree to these policies and participation requirements.

  • The participant is able to meet the eligibility criteria described above, with or without approved accommodations.

  • The parent or guardian accepts the terms outlined in this agreement.
